CALLICOON CENTER – State Senator Jen Metzger (D, Rosendale) is hopeful that Governor Cuomo will sign her legislation that is a step toward providing reliable high-speed internet and broadband access across New York.
She urged the governor to sign her bill on Sunday while in Callicoon Center where she announced that she convinced Spectrum to provide service to 23 homes on Bethlehem Road.
“The data on broadband access that the state has relied upon was federal data from the FCC, which is highly inaccurate. It left a lot of people that were not connected to broadband out, so what my bill does is required that the New York State Public Service Commission to undertake a statewide assessment of connectivity, also of speed,” she said.
The senator said the pandemic magnified the need for high-speed broadband statewide.
