SPRING VALLEY – Over 1,400 boxes of fresh food were distributed in Spring Valley on Friday to provide assistance for those negatively impacted by the continued coronavirus pandemic.

The food was donated through PCNY in the Streets, the Garden of Edan Foundation, and 4MyCity.

“While it is hard to see so many people in such great need, it is also uplifting to see so many people from so many walks of life pulling together to help out,” said Rockland County Legislator Aron Wieder.

Wieder joined Spring Valley Mayor Alan Simon, Spring Valley Police Sgt. Rony Charles, Haverstraw community activist Alfredo Sanchez and dozens of others in helping to distribute the food.

Sgt. Charles, who leads the police department’s youth program, said the boxes were filled with fresh food including eggs and other dairy products, fruits, vegetables, chicken and other foods.
