BEACON – Rumors of a prison break swirled around the Beacon-Fishkill area Thursday afternoon as state corrections officers were observed in large numbers at I-84 and Route 9D.

Neighbors near Downstate and Fishkill Correctional Facilities thought it was the real thing and called around to see what they could learn.

A state corrections spokeswoman said all prisoners were present and accounted for and that the large presence of officers in areas near the prisons was just conducting an escaped prisoner drill.
