Movie theaters allowed to reopen except in Rockland, Orange counties

ALBANY – The state gave the go-ahead for movie theaters to reopen at 25 percent capacity with up to 50 people maximum per screen.

Because of continued high rates of COVID-19 infection, they remain off limits in the counties of Orange, Rockland and Greene.

On Friday, Orange County’s red-zone focus area had a positive rate of 6.47 percent. Rockland County’s red-zone positive rate was 5.5 percent.

Statewide, the percent of positivity without red-zone focus areas included was 1.02 percent.
