Hudson Valley job loss over 10 percent

ALBANY – The Hudson Valley lost 10.6 percent of its jobs during the 12-month period ending in September, the state labor department reports.

The Orange-Rockland Westchester Metro Area saw a decline of 11.3 percent.

The Dutchess-Putnam Metropolitan Division lost 9.6 percent of its jobs.

Columbia County jobs fell by 9.2 percent.

Sullivan County experienced 8.4 percent fewer jobs.

Ulster County saw a dip of 5.8 percent and Greene County jobs fell by 4.9 percent.

Regionwide, job losses were centered on leisure and hospitality (-33,600); trade, transportation and utilities (-14,500); professional and business services (-10,600); educational and health services (-9,200); other services (-8,600); natural resources, mining and construction (-5,100); manufacturing (-3,800); and financial services (-1,000).
