Bridge jumper’s body recovered from Hudson River

BEAR MOUNTAIN – The body of a person who jumped from the Bear Mountain Bridge Wednesday morning was recovered from the Hudson River.

State Police said at about 7:40 a.m., State Park Police observed a vehicle parked on the bridge facing west with the hazard flashers on.

The officer saw no one in the car. He looked over the edge of the bridge and saw a body floating in the water.

Members of the Stony Point Fire Department recovered the body, which was determined to have been the driver of the vehicle.

Police did not say if the victim was male or female.
