AMENIA – A 50-year-old Amenia man was killed when he lost control of the 2018 Jeep he was driving and was partially ejected.
The Dutchess County Sheriff’s Office identified the victim as Matthew Hadley.
Investigators said he was off-roading on the Benson Farm on Poplar Hill Road at around 5:50 p.m. on Monday, October 12 when the accident occurred. Police said preliminary contributing factors appear to be reckless operation in off-road conditions and lack of seatbelt use.
The investigation is continuing.
Assisting at the scene were the Dutchess County Medical Examiner and County Department of Emergency Response, State Police, fire departments from Wassaic, Amenia and Dover, and Northern Dutchess EMS.
