Dear Editor:

Pete Harckham deserves re-election to the New York State Senate. Pete fulfilled promises he made, such as protecting families by common-sense gun control and providing victims of abuse with access to justice in the courts.  Pete acted as promised on cutting taxes and making the property tax cut permanent. Pete worked with colleagues to secure the largest state education funding to date, which included a $10 million increase to schools in our district. He worked to make New York State a leader in the fight to address climate change. In chairing the Senate Committee on Alcoholism and Substance Abuse, he explored the barriers to treatment and doubled minimum inpatient treatment times. He worked to require insurance plans to cover all FDA-approved forms of contraception. Pete also responds to new situations with intelligence and depth of understanding of our community. For those hurt by COVID, Pete is helping individual businesses, non-profit organizations, and laid-off workers. He has organized food drives all over the district. When the tropical storm hit, Pete helped provide information and immediate help and also looked back on promises made by the utility companies that were not met. Support Pete so he can keep working for us. Early voting starts October 24!
