POUGHKEEPSIE – The US Senate has yet to come up with a new aid plan for residents with the debate being fueled from the White House over Democrat or Republican states.
Poughkeepsie City Mayor Rob Rolison, a Republican in a Democratic city in a Democratic state, is fed up with the rhetoric coming out of Washington.
“I cannot accept from where I sit labeling someone politically and that is the basis on which they may or may not receive help,” he said. “It is not about bailing out Rob Rolison; it is not about helping Rob Rolison; it is about helping the city regardless of the political party you may be affiliated with.”
The Democrat-controlled House of Representatives has passed its own version of an aid bill months ago and the GOP-controlled Senate has yet to come up with its own plan.
