POUGHKEEPSIE – The City of Poughkeepsie Police Department is holding a “Fall Apple Festival” for the community on Saturday, October 17 from 11:00 am – 2:00 pm.

Community Policing Officers will be distributing free apples, apple cider, and donuts to “help the community welcome Autumn to the city,” said officer Mike Braren.

Some of the region’s biggest apple growers, including Pavero Cold Storage and Williams Fruit Farm are providing apples for the festival while Stewart’s Shops is donating the donuts.

“My fellow officers and I are committed to protecting and serving the community that we work in,” said Braren, adding “This is just one more way that we are reaching out to strengthen the bond between the department and the entire city.”

The apple festival is taking place at the city’s public safety building located at 505 Main Street.  It is the building that houses both the Community Policing division as well as Poughkeepsie firefighters who operate Engine 2 and Tower-Ladder 2.
