MONROE – One person tested positive and another was presumed positive for COVID-19 at Pine Tree Elementary School in the Monroe-Woodbury Central School District, Superintendent Elsie Rodriguez reported on Monday.

“These individuals are currently isolated, and due to federal health privacy laws, further information about their identities cannot be released,” she wrote.

Rodriguez said the school is working closely with the Orange County Health Department to identify those students and staff who may have been exposed. She said they will be contacted directly within the next 24 hours by the district’ health coordinator.

“If you do not receive a message, your student is not believed to have a risk of exposure.” The superintendent said. “Anyone who was exposed to the individuals will be mandated to quarantine for 14 days from the last exposure date.”

As a result of the positive tests, the Pine Tree school will be closed for the remainder of the week.
