POUGHKEEPSIE – Dutchess County Executive Marcus Molinaro plans to take the wraps off his 2021 county budget later this month, but he has already given a snapshot of what to expect.
He pledged reduced county spending, a smaller county workforce with no layoffs and no property tax increases for residents.
The county’s 2019 fund balance stands at $56.9 million. That fund balance is “crucial to the county being able to weather the rising pandemic and emergency response costs as well as dramatic losses associated with the COVID-19 pandemic,” he said.
“Our fund balance reserves, coupled with spending cuts, tough decisions and shared sacrifice will enable us to withstand this emergency and the uncertain economic situation,” the county executive said.
