Chester bicyclist killed in crash with vehicle

MINISINK – A 50-year-old Town of Chester man was killed on Saturday morning when the bicycle he was riding failed to stop at a stop sign and was struck by a minivan.

State Police said the accident occurred around 10:15 a.m. at the intersection of Lower Road and State Line Road.

Investigation revealed the bicyclist, identified as Kevin Feeney, was traveling south on Lower Road approaching the intersection of State Line Road when he failed to stop at a stop sign on Lower Road and struck the front passenger side of the 2006 Chrysler Town and Country that was traveling west on State Line Road.

The driver of the vehicle stopped and immediately ran to the cyclist.

Lenape Volunteer Ambulance Service responded and began life-saving procedures, but Feeney was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police said he was wearing a bike helmet at the time of the collision.

State Police were assisted at the scene by Lenape Volunteer Ambulance Corps., Mobile Life Support Services and Unionville Fire Department.
