Areas of Rockland and Orange counties still have high rates of positive COVID-19 cases

ALBANY – The hotspots of COVID-19 positivity remain despite Governor Cuomo’s sending of rapid testing devices and his mass discussions with community leaders about the need for following proper protocols including wearing face coverings and following social distancing.

A positivity rate of one percent or less is considered good. But in the Monroe/Pine Tree/Kiryas Joel area the seven-day positivity average was 18.4 percent and the 14-day average was 17.3 percent.

In the Newburgh area, the seven-day rate was 3.5 percent while the 14-day average was 2.5 percent.

In the Spring Valley/Monsey area, the seven-day average was 13.1 percent while the 14-day average was 11.8 percent.

In the Airmont area, the seven-day positivity average was 13.5 percent while the 14-day average was 12.8 percent.

In the Suffern area, the seven-day average was 7.5 percent while the 14-day average was 6.1 percent.

The total positivity rate in the entire Mid-Hudson Valley was 2.6 percent on Thursday, 2.3 percent on Friday and 1.4 percent on Saturday.
