ALBANY – Areas of Rockland and Orange counties are among the top 10 in the state with high new cases of COVID-19.
In Rockland County, the 10977 Zip Code, which includes the villages of Spring Valley and New Square, 30 percent of those tested recently were positive, Governor Cuomo announced on Monday.
In the 10952 area of Airmont, which is adjacent, 25 percent of those tested were positive.
In the Orange County Zip Code of 10950, which includes the towns of Monroe and Palm Tree, 22 percent of those tested were positive.
The governor said proper protocols must be followed to bring down the infection rates.
“Testing, mask compliance, social distancing requirements- those Zip Codes, bars, restaurants, masks and additional testing,” he said.
Most of the other top10 COVID-19 Zip Codes are in the City of New York.
Cuomo said the state has 200 rapid testing devices and will make them available to any municipality that requests one.
