NEWBURGH – The City of Newburgh was at the risk of losing its Shot Spotter program because of a lack of funding, but it will continue to function, at least through the end of the year.

Mayor Torrance Harvey said the city and company have come to terms to continue.

“We were able to renegotiate recently with the company and they gave us a discount on the technology,” he said, noting the COVID-19 related economic shutdown earlier this year and budget constraints.

The mayor said continuing the program in 2021 will be part of the budget talks in the days ahead.
