KINGSTON – Two people died early Sunday morning in a two-alarm fire at 36 Sherman Street, Kingston Fire Department officials said.
The two-alarm fire was called in at 12:31 a.m.
Mayor Steven Noble called the deaths tragic. “Every time we have a fire here in Kingston it is devastating and tragic for the families involved, so on behalf of the City of Kingston we send our condolences to the family,” he said. “I know our firefighters did everything they could. It was a tragic circumstance.”
The identities of the victims were not immediately known and the cause of the fire is under investigation.
