Woman smoking pot steals car, says Troopers

LIBERTY – New York State Police have arrested 21-year-old Marissa Ghelberg for allegedly smoking marijuana and stealing a car.

On September 18, 2020, Troopers responded to Mahogany Lane in Liberty for a report of a stolen 1997 Chrysler Town and Country.

Troopers observed the vehicle traveling on Mahogany Lane and initiated a traffic stop. While interviewing the operator of the vehicle, Marissa Ghelberg, Troopers determined that she was impaired by marijuana.

Ghelberg was arrested for Driving While Ability Impaired by Drugs and Grand Larceny 4th degree, a felony. She was arraigned in the Town of Liberty Court in front of Judge Bauman and issued an appearance ticket returnable on September 30, 2020, at 2 p.m.
