NEWBURGH – 54-year-old Felix Alduen-Durand was stabbed several times Friday morning around 10:00 am near the intersection of Broadway and 9W. He died from his injuries Friday afternoon at St. Luke’s Cornwall Hospital.
A City of Newburgh Detective was in the area and witnessed a man, now identified as Arthur Thomas, 42, stab the victims several times. Police officials say that the detective radioed the incident to headquarters, exited his vehicle, and ordered Thomas to drop the knife. After several orders, Thomas dropped the weapon and was taken into custody.
Thomas has been charged with second-degree murder and remanded to Orange County Jail without bail pending an upcoming hearing.
