CATSKILL – New York State Police say that 36-year-old Edward Russell Jr. of Durham pulled a knife on a man Thursday in Catskill and threatened to kill the man and his father.  The incident occurred on Jefferson Heights.

Troopers allege that Russell approached the man, pulled a knife from its sheath and pointed it at that person. While pointing the knife at him, he stated that he was going to kill him and his father. Russell attempted several times to kick the individual while waving the knife at him. Russell then sheathed his knife and walked away from the area.

Russell was contacted by State Troopers and responded to the state police barracks in Catskill. He was charged with the felony of Criminal Possession of a Weapon 3rd degree as a result of prior convictions and Menacing 2nd degree, a misdemeanor. The defendant was arraigned at the Town of Catskill Court, issued an Order of Protection, and was released on his own recognizance.
