HUDSON VALLEY – Zoom, the video conferencing platform used by millions to hold meetings during the COVID-19 pandemic is experiencing widespread outages on the east coast of the United States.

As many colleges in the Hudson Valley start the fall semester today, using the distance-learning model and relying on Zoom, the outage is affecting several of the students.  Down Detector, an online service that tracks issues for a variety of services is indicating a major spike in Zoom users being unable to log in and join meetings.  The problem appears to have started around 7:00 am on Monday morning.

As of 9:50 am, Zoom issued a notice that said “We have identified the issue causing users to be unable to authenticate to the Zoom website (zoom.us) and unable to start and join Zoom Meetings and Webinars, and we are working on a fix for this issue.”
