Senior citizen charged with sex abuse of a minor

CHATHAM – On August 20, 2020, the New York State Police from the Livingston Bureau of Criminal Investigation (BCI) arrested 72-year-old Chatham resident Lawrence Thomas, for allegedly sexually abusing a victim under the age of thirteen-years-old.

Thomas has been charged with Sexual Abuse in the 1st degree, a class D felony, and Endangering the Welfare of a Child, a class A misdemeanor.

The accused was arraigned before the town of Livingston Court and remanded to the Columbia County Jail without bail.  He is next scheduled to appear before the town of Chatham Court on August 26, 2020, at 6:00 p.m.
