NEW ROCHELLE – A 27-year-old Ne Rochelle man is in the hospital suffering from two gunshot wounds to the chest and is in non-life-threatening condition, medical staff told police.

The shooting just after 8 p.m. on Friday, August 14 was not a random act as it occurred inside an apartment and both men knew each other, police said.

Investigation led to the identification of a suspect and on the evening of Saturday, August 15, police arrested Richard Hayes, 23, of Mount Vernon in Yonkers and charged him with attempted murder and criminal possession of a weapon.

Yonkers Police assisted in the arrest.
