NEW CITY – A Sloatsburg Volunteer Ambulance Corps member has been arraigned on felony grand larceny charges.

Matthew Gannon, 53, was also charged with falsifying business records, offering a false statement for filing, and scheme to defraud, all as felonies.

In July, Ramapo Town Police investigated the misappropriation of funds in the ambulance corps.

“The arrest of a member of the volunteer emergency services of Rockland is always a sad day in the county,” said District Attorney Thomas Walsh. He said his office “will be conducting a historical forensic audit to determine if any further criminal activity occurred and whether additional criminal charges are warranted.”

Gannon was arraigned in Sloatsburg Village Court and released on his own recognizance pending a future court appearance.

The State Attorney General’s Office and DA’s office assisted in the investigation.
