THOMPSON – A man believed to have died in a two-car crash on Route 17 eastbound in the Town of Thompson was revived by emergency medical services personnel from the Hatzolah ambulance service.

State Police said the driver of a car that was struck in the rear, Lee Cone, Jr., 61, of Ellenville, was originally thought to have succumbed to his injuries, but Hatzolah EMS was able to obtain a pulse and he was transferred to Garnett Medical Center in the Town of Wallkill in critical condition.

An unidentified woman in the Lexus with him was transported by medivac to Westchester Medical Center in critical condition.

The driver of the Honda that crashed into him was transported to Garnett with non-life-threatening injuries.

The investigation into the crash is continuing. Police said Cone’s car was stopped in the left lane of the highway and the driver of the other car did not immediately realize that and was unable to change lanes due to traffic in the right lane.
