MID-HUDSON – In the aftermath of Tropical Storm Isaias, two Hudson Valley state lawmakers are urging Central Hudson Gas and Electric to reimburse residents who lost power for damages and losses like food and medication spoilage.

Another utility, Orange and Rockland, has already announced it would do that.

Senators James Skoufis (D, Cornwall) and Jennifer Metzger (D, Rosendale) said with the pandemic and heightened unemployment, “it’s more important than ever that Central Hudson implement the best practices that other utility companies are providing.”

Skoufis said anything less than offering a reimbursement program “is a slap in the face to the people who are continuing to struggle to keep the lights on and feed their families.”

Metzger said Central Hudson “needs to step up and do the right thing for its customers who have suffered enough from a lack of power for days on end.”
