POUGHKEEPSIE – Brothers Mike and Stephen Colvin have spent years on local radio stations in the Hudson Valley and are returning to iHeart Media station Z93 beginning on Sunday. The show will air from 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM weekly.
Mike Colvin spent years at other local stations including working with the “Waking Up With the Wolf “show and the “Coop and Tobin” show. He left the airways in 2003. Colvin has also spent decades as a night club and mobile DJ and has been providing musical entertainment at Mahoney’s Irish Pub since 2004. The COVID-19 pandemic drastically altered his ability to work due to most private parties canceling and restrictions on restaurants leaving him idle. Only recently has the married father of one returned to Mahoney’s with new social-distancing guidelines in place.
The media conglomerate iHeart recently made nationwide changes that resulted in several local radio personalities being unemployed. When questioned about the perception of his return to radio after the recent firings, Colvin said “Although my heart goes out to my colleagues who have lost their jobs in recent times, it is only one hour a week at the moment and there is no salary to speak of. I’m just ready to give it another whirl and am very grateful for the opportunity.”
Colvin will be joined by his younger brother Stephen for the weekly show. Like his older brother, Stephen has been involved in Hudson Valley radio for years and also served as Director of Entertainment for the Hudson Valley Renegades, Catskill Cougars, New Haven County Cutters, Quinnipiac University Athletics, and The Danbury Trashers. “The opportunity to return to radio to team up with my brother was too good to pass up. It’s 2020, expect the unexpected,” said the younger sibling.
