HUDSON VALLEY – It started out as light rain then it intensified as it rolled through the region with strong winds.

Tree and power lines were downed across the valley knocking out power to tens of thousands of people from Grahamsville to Middle Hope, Carmel to Pleasant Valley.

In Orange County, phone lines to the 911 center were out of service.  Those in need of emergency services were using “text-to-911” or calling the police, fire, or ambulance services by dialing the respective seven-digit phone number.

Tree branches could be seen scattered all over Mount Vernon Road near Summitville as the storm passed through Sullivan County. There were numerous calls for wires and trees down throughout the day.

A NYSEG crew had to cut a tree that fell across Mount Vernon Road and took wires down with it. It fell near the Catskill RV Resort. Mount Vernon Road was closed for hours.

After the storm left the area a rainbow was seen off of Route 209 in Summitville.
