State Police continue to investigate six-year-old hit-and-run pedestrian fatality

WESTTOWN – State Police are continuing to investigate the hit-and-run death of an 86-year-old Westtown man who had walked out to his mailbox.

On August 26, 2013 at about 5 p.m., Donald Wester was discovered lying on the roadway on County Route One by a passing motorist. He was flown to Westchester Medical Center with head trauma and died from his injuries.

The investigation revealed Wester may have been struck by a motorist driving a silver or light-colored minivan that may have damage to the passenger side.

Anyone with information is asked to call Investigator Joseph Dawson at State Police Troop F Headquarters in the Town of Wallkill at 845-344-5352. All calls will be kept confidential.
