HUDSON VALLEY – June unemployment in the Town of Monroe reached 19.7 percent, the highest in the Hudson Valley. The City of Yonkers was second highest at 17.1 percent. The Hudson Valley average for the month was 12.2 percent.
The high numbers continue to reflect the economic impacts of COVID-19.
The City of Mount Vernon reflected 16.7 percent joblessness in June while the Town of Haverstraw had 15.9 percent unemployment.
The Town of Mamaroneck had the lowest rate of joblessness in June at 9.7 percent. That was followed by the Village of Harrison and Town of Rye, each with 10.3 percent, the Village of Port Chester at 10.5 percent and the Town of Ramapo at 10.7 percent.
