New Mount Vernon deputy police commissioner makes history

MOUNT VERNON – Ernest Morales recently retired from the NYPD and is making history with his appointment as the first Latino to hold the position of First Deputy Commissioner of the Mount Vernon Police Department.

Morales took the oath of office on Tuesday outside City Hall with friends, family and fellow officers present.
