Old Ulster County Jail at Golden Hill

KINGSTON – The Ulster County Legislature has scheduled a public hearing for Tuesday, August 11 to discuss the potential transfer of the former county jail property at Golden Hill to a private developer for affordable housing.

Following the hearing, the property could be transferred to a local development corporation as the next step in selling it.

The county already has site concepts from at least five qualified developers for affordable mix-income housing development.

“The legislature has been working on many fronts during this pandemic and this may be an opportunity to address housing and other socioeconomic issues facing Ulster County,” said Legislature Chairman David Donaldson.
