MONTICELLO – In the wake of one Monticello employing using the “N” word referring to another village staffer, the village board has adopted an updated policy against discrimination and harassment.

Following Wednesday night’s vote, Mayor Gary Sommers said he would like to take training one step further.

“We need some answers from our department heads setting up another session with our insurance company for workplace violence that would include several of the issues that are involved in this policy also and it would be an update session from the insurance company and would be training session for all employees,” he said.

New York requires annual workplace sexual harassment awareness training for all employees and executives statewide.
