WHITE PLAINS – A Yorktown man was charged Sunday with several crimes after bullets from his .22 caliber rifle exited his house and pierced the walls of his neighbor’s home.

One of the bullets landed in the bathroom shower where a woman was bathing. She was not injured.

Westchester County District Attorney Anthony Scarpino, Jr. said Connor Scanlan, 21, was charged with reckless endangerment and criminal mischief, both as felonies, and a misdemeanor of prohibited use of a weapon.

He was arraigned by video conferencing and released on his own recognizance.

It was roughly 3:45 p.m. when Scanlan’s neighbor on Friends Road heard loud bangs and repeated impacts to the side of his house. Responding Yorktown Police found several bullet holes in the siding of both the Scanlan home and the adjoining house.

When asked, Scanlan told police he had been target shooting with a .22 caliber rifle in the hallway of his house.

Police secured the rifle along with several other airsoft rifles and related paraphernalia. The .22 rifle is a legally owned weapon.

The investigation is continuing. The case is being handled by the DA’s Yorktown Branch.
