State officials conduct travel enforcement operation at New York airports

ALBANY – If you are flying into any Port Authority or regional airport in New York from any one of the states with high COVID-19 cases, you will have to complete a State Health Department traveler form, distributed to passengers.

Health department representatives and State Police are checking travelers to make sure they have filled out those forms. Among the airports being monitored are New York Stewart, Westchester County and Albany in addition to the Port Authority’s metropolitan area jetports.

Travelers who leave the airport without completing the form will be subject to a $2,000 fine and may be brought to a hearing and ordered to complete mandatory quarantine.

Travelers coming to New York from those designated states through other means of transportation, including trains and cars, must also fill out the health department traveler form online.

If people travel to New York from a growing list of states, they must quarantine for 14 days.
