YONKERS – A Queens man was killed when he was ejected from the rear of a Honda Odyssey where he was sitting while holding a ladder. State Police said Yong Sheng Yin, 63, who was not wearing a safety restraint, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The incident occurred around 1:22 p.m. on Monday on the Sprain Brook Parkway in the City of Yonkers.

Police said a 2017 Toyota Sienna, driven by Besim Shala, 44, of Brewster, rear-ended a 2010 Honda Odyssey van driven by Jerry Zang, 57, of Queens. The fatal victim was in the rear of the van and was thrown out upon impact.

The Odyssey was pushed into a stationary State Transportation Department attenuator truck that was blocking the right lane of travel to protect an active construction zone.

The Sienna then rear-ended the Odyssey a second time.

The investigation remains ongoing.

Anyone with information about the accident or may have witnessed the crash but have not yet been interviewed is asked to call State Police at 845-769-2600.
