POUGHKEEPSIE – Marc Coviello, the director of Dutchess County Veterans Services has submitted his resignation, effective July 31, according to County Executive Marcus Molinaro. The county executive’s office said Coviello is leaving to pursue other opportunities outside of the area.

Coviello is a combat-hardened decorated Army soldier who served as a Dutchess County legislator before taking the helm at Veterans Services by confirmation of the legislature, after a heated debate in 2018.

Veterans Services assists county veterans and their families in receiving all of the benefits for which they are eligible.  Many veterans do not realize that the benefits are not automatic and Veterans Services helps veterans apply for what they are entitled to, from all levels of government.

projects and held Coviello in high regard.  “Marc did great things for the veterans of Dutchess County as well as helping to defend our country.  He was a pleasure to work with and the group at Vet2Vet wishes him well in his new undertaking.  MHA Vet2Vet looks forward to continuing the working relationship with the new director.”

VFW Post 170 Commander Tommy Zurhelllen, who walked across America on behalf of Veterans, praised Coviello. “I can tell you first-hand Marc has done an amazing job as Director of DCVS. We’ve worked together many times to improve the lives of our vets here in Dutchess County, and he will be sorely missed.”

Coviello was unable to be reached for comment. Molinaro is expected to name a successor in the coming weeks.
