Warwick Police continue investigation of stolen vehicles, break in

WARWICK – Town of Warwick Police have arrested a Jersey City, New Jersey man on a burglary charge following an investigation into a vehicle robbery and store break in.

At about 11:30 p.m. on Friday, July 10, town police responded to a burglary in progress at the Pine Island Food Center on County Route 1 in Pine Island.

Officers arrived to find an unknown person or persons had forced entry into the store and stole items.

At about 8:30 a.m. on Saturday, July 11, a 2000 GMC truck was reported stolen from a farm on Pulaski Highway.

While taking that report, the officers received information from State Police that they had made an arrest earlier in the morning of a man in the vehicle that was stolen from the Pine Island Food Center.

The man, later identified as Brayan Martinez, 18, of Jersey City, was brought to Warwick Police headquarters by troopers from the Greenville barracks.

Following Martinez being charged with the felony burglary, he was released with an appearance ticket under terms of the state’s criminal justice reform act.

The GMC truck was located damaged in a ditch in the area where the car was reported stolen.

The investigation into the theft of the truck as well as other incidents reported since the release of Martinez are under investigation by the Warwick Police Detective Division.
