Two arrested following armed robbery in Port Jervis

PORT JERVIS – A man and woman have been arrested following a knifepoint robbery in Port Jervis.

City Police said a 23-year-old man reported that at about 8:38 p.m. on July 8 he was meeting with a woman at the intersection of Barcelow Street and Seward Avenue when two men approached him while he was in his car, held a knife to him and stole cash and other personal items.

The victim reported the suspects attempted to steal his car but he was able to flee the area.

Following an investigation, Alecia Deitz, 19, of Port Jervis was charged during the late evening hours of July 9 with armed robbery. She was arraigned and remanded to the Orange County Jail in lieu of $75,000 bail.

During the early morning hours of July 10, Mikeal Williams, 19, of Roanoke, Virginia was arrested by New Jersey Transit Police officers after he was located at Penn Station in Newark, New Jersey. He was being held in the Essex County Correctional Facility as a fugitive from justice based on a Port Jervis arrest warrant for armed robbery. He is being held pending an extradition hearing.

Port Jervis Police are continuing to investigate the incident and were assisted by the Orange County District Attorney’s Office, Town of Deerpark Police, Hudson Valley Crime Analysis Center, State Police, Eastern Pike Regional Police Department, Pike County District Attorney’s Office and New Jersey Transit.
