MID-HUDSON – Indoor shopping centers are opening for business today for the first time since the governor shut down the economy in March.

While other sectors of the community, including stores with direct outside access, have been allowed to open earlier, the concern for indoor malls was air quality and the potential of COVID-19 infection.

Governor Cuomo said the indoor facilities may open as long as they have appropriate air filtration systems.

All three of the Pyramid Company’s Hudson Valley indoor malls – the Poughkeepsie Galleria, Galleria at Crystal Run in the Town of Wallkill, and Palisades Center in West Nyack, are reopening.

Shoppers at all indoor malls must wear face coverings and practice social distancing.

Shopping center management companies are required to enhance their cleaning and sanitizing areas and numerous touch point, restrooms seating areas and food court.

Individual stores must follow the same protocols.
