Man charged with shooting his sister to death

YONKERS – A 61-year-old Yonkers man is under arrest, charged with killing his 54-year-old sister during an argument.

Yonkers Police were called to a single-family home at 31 Oakland Avenue around 6:19 p.m. on Friday for a report of a shot fired.

Police said investigation revealed the two siblings, who lived with their elderly mother, engaged in an argument over property inside the home.  The dispute spilled out to the front lawn where it escalated and Jeffrey Hirschorn allegedly pulled an illegally possessed .38 caliber revolver and shot Leslie Hirschorn once in the neck, killing her.

Several witnesses were interviewed and Hirschorn provided a statement to investigators. The mother was taken to a hospital for evaluation.

Hirschorn was charged with murder and criminal possession of a weapon.
