MONTICELLO – Retired Sullivan County Court Judge Frank LaBuda will appear on the Republican line in the November race for county district attorney.

He challenged Democrat Acting DA Meagan Galligan, who had won cross endorsement of the GOP committee. She will also appear on the Independence Party line in November.

“This is a victory not for me but for the people of our beloved county,” LaBuda said in an email to county residents on Thursday.

“I believe that face-to-face debate, full public examination of my accomplishments and experiences, and my desire for transparency will reveal how I will work tirelessly for all of the people of our county,” LaBuda said.

The former judge said the office of DA “deserved to be run independently, free of political and other persuasion and influence.”
