ELLENVILLE – A Kerhonkson woman was arrested on Friday by Ellenville Police and charged with falsely reporting an incident and aggravated harassment for allegedly calling in a report of a barricaded person armed with a knife who was holding hostages including children late Wednesday night. The caller said the alleged perpetrator threatened to kill the hostages at 21 ½ Nevins Street.

Police arrived at about 11:30 p.m., secured the area and attempted to contact the alleged person inside the residence with no success.

A few minutes later a resident of the apartment approached police and said no one else was inside. Police entered and confirmed the residence was vacant.

Tiara DePace

Tiara DePace, 20, was arrested after an intensive two-day search. She is the sister of the person she reported as the hostage taker, police said.

DePace was issued an appearance ticket returnable to Ellenville Village Court.

Ellenville Police were assisted at the scene by the Ulster County Sheriff’s Office and State Police at the Wawarsing barracks.
