DEERPARK – A Port Jervis man had to be rescued after his motorcycle failed to negotiate a curve on Route 97 in the Town of Deerpark Wednesday evening, struck the rock wall at the Hawk’s Nest, sending him over the wall and down an embankment.

Deerpark Police Chief Richard Sztyndor said the incident remains under investigation, but speed appears to be a factor in the crash.

While it was not known exactly how far down Corey Allen went, the 19-year-old was rescued by members of the fire department who came up the Delaware River in a boat to get to him and took him out that way.

Allen was airlifted to Westchester Medical Center for treatment of his injuries.
