Bronx man dies, two women injured in Route 17 crash in Orange County

TOWN OF WALLKILL – A one-car crash on Route 17 in the Town of Wallkill claimed the life of one occupant and injured two others.

State Police investigators said their 2007 Honda Accord was traveling west in the left lane of Route 17 when the car crossed both westbound lanes, ran off the road, traveled down an embankment, struck a tree and burst into flames.

Troopers attempted to extinguish the fire with fire extinguishers from their police cars. The Circleville and Bloomingburg fire departments arrived and put the fire out.

The driver, identified as Brandon Moulton, 27, of the Bronx, could not be extricated and was pronounced dead at the scene.

The two other occupants, Alysha Nieves, and Destiny Morales, both 25 and from the Bronx, where transported to Garnet Regional Medical Center (new name for Orange Regional Medical Center) in the Town of Wallkill. A third occupant, a three-year-old girl, was transported to Westchester Medical Center by medevac.

The cause of the crash is unknown, and State Police ask anyone who may have witnessed the crash to call them at 845-344-5300.
