One teen shot dead, another stabbed, in Poughkeepsie

POUGHKEEPSIE – One 16-year-old boy was shot to death and another 16-year-old stabbed and wounded in Poughkeepsie on Saturday night.

At 10:33 p.m., city police received a call of shots fired in the area of North Bridge and Charles Streets. Five minutes later, they received a call of a person stabbed in the same area.

The shooting victim was transported to MidHudson Regional Hospital where he was later pronounced dead. The stabbing victim was transported to Vassar Brothers Medical Center with a serious, but non-life-threatening stab wound to his back.

The stabbing victim told police the two were walking in the area when he felt himself getting stabbed in the back. He began running and heard several gunshots. He ran up to a house, then returned and found his friend wounded.

He could not identify who stabbed him or shot his friend.
