Second incident of gunfire in Monticello on same day

MONTICELLO – Police in Monticello are investigating if a second gunfire incident, this one late Friday night, is connected to one that occurred not far away during the afternoon.

Police said at 11 p.m., a 19-year-old Monticello man was driving near the Horizons and Fairground Estates apartment complexes when he was deliberately shot at. The vehicle was struck several times and several bullets hit a building at the Fairground Estates.

The driver was uncooperative with officers.

Investigators said it is unknown if the incident is connected with the shooting of another man in the area if West Broadway and Forestburgh Road.

Anyone with information about either incident is asked to call Monticello Police in Confidence at 845-794-4422. State Police are assisting village police in both shooting incidents.
