Kingston man arrested in connection with theft of medicine for vets

KINGSTON – A man has been charged with possessing prescription medications meant for veterans while in shipment via a private mail carrier service.

On June 12, members of the URGENT Task Force and the Dutchess County Drug Task Force conducted surveillance of a suspected package delivery vehicle in Ulster and Dutchess counties. It was confirmed a package intended for delivery in Dutchess County was not delivered. URGENT found the missing meds in driver’s possession.

Christopher Boughton, 40, of Kingston was charged with the felonies of criminal possession of a controlled substance and tampering with physical evidence as well as the misdemeanor of criminal possession of a controlled substance after a small amount of heroin was discovered in his personal effects after his arrest.

He was released with an appearance ticket returnable to Town of Ulster County.

The investigation is continuing and additional charges may be filed.
