GHENT – Two Ghent men escaped injury Saturday morning when the single-engine plane they were in crashed into a wooded area near Kline Kill Airport off Route 21 in Ghent.

The Columbia County Sheriff’s Office investigated the incident just before 10 a.m.

They said the plane was trying to take off from the airfield when a wing clipped a tree adjacent to the runway resulting in the crash.

The FAA was notified of the incident.
