KINGSTON – The five-year sales tax sharing agreement between Ulster County and the City of Kingston expires next February, and talks are underway for a new one.
Mayor Steven Noble said he has a tentative pact that will keep the same level of funding for the city.
“Any change in that 11 ½ percent can cause drastic ramifications on our ability to deliver services and to take care of our residents, and so upon meeting with County Executive Ryan, we had a very fruitful and productive dialogue and came to tentative terms where both of us are in support of a five-year sales tax agreement that leaves our 11 ½ percent unchanged,” the mayor said.
The county’s towns also share in the sales tax collected on goods and services.
